Excerpt from the Gospel according to St. Mark
"Having risen early on the first day of the week, Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went to tell the news to those who had been with him and were mourning and weeping. When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they refused to believe it. After that, he appeared in a different form to two of them who were on their way to the countryside. They returned to tell the others, but they did not believe them either. Finally, he appeared to the Eleven themselves while they were at table; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and the hardness of their hearts because they had not believed those who had seen him after his resurrection. Then he said to them, “Go into all the world. Proclaim the Gospel to all creation.”
This marks the beginning of the universal mission. Here we read that the first person to “go out and proclaim the Good News” is a woman.
What is the "Good News"? The Good News proclaims that salvation is not earned through works, but is offered by grace to those who believe in Him. It frees us from sin, suffering, and death.
We are not alone.
