The Mission. Our Pope Leo XIV

In his Apostolic Letter "Drawing New Maps of Hope", published on Tuesday October 28 to mark the 60th anniversary of "Gravissimum educationis", Leo XIV ...

 "Working in synergy

Indeed, "today, in our educational contexts, it is worrying to see symptoms of a generalized inner fragility developing, at all ages. We cannot close our eyes to these silent cries for help", said the Holy Father, echoing comments made at his last meeting with teachers on October 31, on the occasion of the Jubilee of the world of education. The Pope encouraged the Foundation's commitment.

"By sending out his disciples two by two, the Lord himself also wanted to signify the need for collaboration in the proclamation of the Good News", the Bishop of Rome further explained. This is why the mission requires "working in synergy, avoiding isolation and accepting to build a strong pastoral solidarity, which is not limited to economic means, but also includes the exchange of pastoral agents between the Churches", he added. On the other hand, warned Leo XIV, "this work deserves to be well organized in order to favor their good insertion in the host dioceses".

Missionary drive

The Holy Father also praised the meeting held last May at the Abbey of Maredsous in Belgium, which " enabled us to reflect on the proper preparation of this missionary cooperation between the South and the North, and above all on the decision to create an international center for missiology and North-South pastoral work". He added: "I hope that this institution will see the light of day, and above all that it will achieve the objectives set out in your resolutions". For, he insisted, "together we want to rediscover the missionary impetus". In particular, a "mission that courageously and lovingly proposes the Gospel of Jesus". " You remind us all of the beauty of evangelization", he concluded.
