The full and complete authority of the Pope and the Catholic Church
The Church was here before us. It will still be here after we are gone. We also owe it a debt of gratitude for having carried the word of Christ through the centuries to us.
Christ founded his Church on Peter, saying to him: “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church” (Matthew 16:18). As Peter’s successor, the Pope is the guarantor of the unity and truth of the faith.
The First Vatican Council (1870) reaffirmed the Church’s infallibility in matters of faith and morals, not because of its own perfection, but because the Holy Spirit preserves the Church from error. To obey the Pope is to recognize Christ himself, who willed a one and visible Church.
As the Catechism reminds us, “the Supreme Pontiff is the perpetual and visible source of the Church’s foundation and unity.” This obedience, far from being blind, is an act of trust in the divine promise. Every member of the faithful is called to pray for him, to meditate on his teachings, and to live this communion as a gift from God to his people.
The Tibériade Association works in communion with the Church. Under no circumstances will it assist or support movements, communities, or organizations that do not recognize the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church.
